Suresh ran a textile trading business in Surat with annual revenues of ₹8 crores. He had 15 employees, relationships with 200 weavers, and credit lines with three banks. He was the sole proprietor.
Two years before his death, Suresh documented everything: vendor contacts, client payment terms, bank authorizations, GST details, employee contracts, and operational processes. He added his son Amit as a signatory on business accounts and introduced him to key clients.
When Suresh died of cancer at 61, Amit took over within a week. There was no disruption to vendor payments, no confusion about outstanding orders, and no loss of key client relationships. The business not only survived but grew 12% the following year. Suresh's planning preserved his life's work.
