Executor Briefing Template

Template

A structured agenda for the conversation with your executor so they know exactly what to do.

Published: 3 Apr 2026 · Updated: 15 Oct 2026

Section 1 - Basics: Share your will location (original and copies), death certificate process, and immediate contacts (lawyer, CA, insurance agent).

Section 2 - Financial overview: Walk through every bank account, FD, insurance policy, investment, and property. Add them in Sort My Legacy's Family Access as your Executor, so they can see your whole plan, read-only, once your death is confirmed. Never share your own login.

Section 3 - Debts and obligations: List any home loans, car loans, credit cards, personal loans, and business debts. Specify which have insurance cover and which the estate must settle.

Section 4 - Digital accounts: Share email, social media, and subscription details. Explain which accounts to close, which to memorialize, and which have financial value.

Section 5 - Family instructions: Communicate any specific wishes for funeral arrangements, charitable donations, guardianship of minors, and messages for family members. Discuss any potential family conflicts and how you want them handled.

General information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Laws and rules change, so check with a qualified lawyer or CA before you act.
