Asha was a retired school principal in Nagpur with three married daughters. She owned a house, two flats, fixed deposits totalling ₹45 lakhs, and gold jewellery. The common assumption was that her assets would cause conflict.
Instead, Asha sat down with all three daughters and discussed her will openly. She allocated assets based on each daughter's situation: the house to the daughter caring for her, one flat each to the other two, FDs split equally, and jewellery divided per her wishes. Everyone agreed.
When Asha passed at 78, the will was clear, the daughters were aligned, and the estate was settled in four months with zero legal disputes. The family still celebrates festivals together. The only ingredient was a difficult conversation that Asha had the courage to initiate.
